Animals at the Cove are often thrilling and unexpected. Wild creatures come and go, but many seem to like our peaceful secluded cove. With an abundance of coral formations, as well as protection from the open ocean, the cove is a snorkler's paradise. In fact, Honokeana Cove is one of the best snorkeling locations on Maui.

Turtles and tropical fish are plentiful in the Cove and it's not unusual for a turtle to swim with the snorklers.

From land, one can watch the turtles, as they surface for air. In season, whales visit Maui and often perform in the waters just outside the Cove. Dolphins can occasionally be seen swimming outside the Cove, and eagle rays swimming in the Cove.

There is a wide variety of birds, both sea birds and land birds. Sometimes a night heron will fish from a rock in the Cove. Egrets are common, as are many kinds of smaller birds.
